The Emma Newton Fund has made ten grants so far.

Grants made so far from the Emma Newton Fund – May 2013

Battalionz

Battalionz – Street Dance Crew  £1,250

A regional street dance crew made up of boys aged 14-19 from the North East. Their grant enabled the group to travel to Germany in the summer of 2012 to attend ‘ResiDance’, an educational dance festival.

James Tradgett

James Tradgett – Cellist  £1,000

As an accomplished cello player, James was in danger of losing his place studying for his Masters Degree at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland due to lack of funds.  This has given James the chance to complete his course.

Sarah-Davidson

Sarah Davidson – Ballet Dancer  £500

Sarah studies ballet at The Central Ballet School in London. Her grant enabled her to attend specialist training last year with Northern Ballet in Leeds

 

Youth Dance Tynedale – Dance Group   £750

To fund a week of inspiration and choreography from balletLORENT.  Emma had been a member of YDT.

Jack

Jack Golden – Actor  £324

Jack is an inspiring young man with autism. He received a grant to attend Stagecoach Theatre School and is already seeing big results. After being part of the cast of ‘Joseph and his Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’ Jacks mother commented. ‘He found it really challenging but worked very hard and performed amazingly.’

Emma Robinson Emma Fund

Emma Robinson – Ballet Dancer  £500

Emma from Gateshead received £500 in order to follow her dreams of studying ballet at university. Emma said she was, ‘Extremely grateful for all of the help the Emma Newton Fund has given me’.

 

Queen Elizabeth High School – Performing Arts Class  £250                 

The application was to buy costumes and props for final year performances. Students at the High School have raised over £6,000 for the fund.

 

Sarah Jane Perry – Solo Dance Performer  £350

The grant was to help Sarah Jane attend The Sage Academy in Byker to learn specialist skills and to develop her dance technique.

 

Hannah Padmore  – Violinist  £500

Hannah was given a grant to enable her to complete her postgraduate study of the violin at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) in Manchester.

 

Robert Devlin – Performing Arts Student  £250

This grant was to enable Robert to attend auditions with a view to gaining a place at University at either Birmingham or London.
